PoGo! Announces Integration of the AMD Alchemy Au1200 Processor Within Future TiVoToGo Enabled Portable Media Players

BREA, Calif., Mar 21, 2005 (CCNMatthews via COMTEX) -- PoGo! today announced that it is working in collaboration with AMD (NYSE:AMD) to integrate the AMD Alchemy(TM) Au1200(TM) processor into its second-generation portable media player (PMP).
The Au1200 processor has been optimized for portable video players and enables a new generation of conveniences and features such as scalable DVD-quality displays, long-lasting battery life and effortless video content transfers directly from digital video recorders.

"The integration of the Au1200 processor in next-generation PoGo! PMPs is good news for consumers seeking living-room quality video entertainment on the go," said Iain Morris, senior vice president, Personal Connectivity Solutions Group, AMD. "Combining AMD's expertise in embedded processing with PoGo!'s leadership in handheld portable multimedia should result in a compelling, feature-rich PMP."

"Utilizing the Au1200 processor will allow PoGo! to further enhance the capabilities of its portable media players," said Robin McSurley, vice president of Sales and Marketing for PoGo!. "We are thinking ahead and positioning our products to be the leaders in the digital media market."

For consumers, PMPs containing Au1200 processors provide a simplified user experience and more entertainment value. For example, PMPs containing the Au1200 processor can connect directly to digital video recorders and transfer video content without the need to transcode the file through a personal computer, thus greatly reducing the time it takes to download and playback fresh video entertainment.
